This week has been amazing! Holy cow! We found 3 new investigators this week and we taught 15 lessons!!! That is the best I have ever seen in my mission. It's the greenie magic! We have been trying really hard to be obedient and dilligent and it has paid off. Our companionship goal was to invite as many people to be baptized as the spirit told us to. And we were able to invite 6 people to be baptized and we got 2 solid dates out of it! Super exciting!
Sorella Cluff is so cute! We get along really well. We can laugh and joke together and also be serious and work hard together. The best of both worlds! Sorella C isn't homesick one bit. I am...a bit trunky....we will work harder on that this week!
Sorella Wightman and I always ate tomatoes and mozzarella and gnocchi and pesto genovese.
I had to continue the tradition!
So the highlights of the week....
I have a sure knowledge that the mafia is real. I don't care how many people say it's not, but it is!!!
A few weeks ago one of the ward member's sons went missing. Everyone was a little worried because they knew that he worked for the mafia. This week they found him. I will leave out the details...
Also, on the other hand! One of the people we invited to be baptized this week. nicely told us that he would love to be baptized! But...he is part of the mafia...so he can't.
and those are my mafia stories for the week.
We saw lots of little miracles this week.
We had to start Sorella Cluff's permesso (visa documents) and we ended up getting it all done in one morning! They gave us the date when we needed to come back, and it happened to be the day after zone conference. We were worried that we wouldn't make it back from Taranto in time, so we decided to go and find the questura and see if we could move the date. And we ended up finding it and moving the date with no problem!
I love these kids! (:
We were able to get in and see some members that have been hard to contact. And we are having FHE with them tonight!
We went and saw our less active Young Women's president and helped her prepare her YW lesson....and the best part is that SHE CAME TO CHURCH!! wooo!! Even though no YW showed up...she came! And she is even coming to branch council and general conference. We were also able to talk to her 17 year old daughter who is maybe even more less active. She really opened up and told us how she has decided that one day when she gets married she wants to be married in the temple! She also wants to start coming back to church.
We were on our way to an appointment and saw this lady with groceries and we asked if we could help. Normally they nicely say no...but this lady said yes and invited us in her home! Not even ten minutes later we had the Book of Mormon open and she had tears rolling down her cheecks! She is letting us come back tomorrow :)
We went and saw this lady that we met at a museum who is very religious. She told us about how her sons were baptized into a church that did baptism by immersion. They told her how beautiful and special it was to be baptized just like Jesus Christ. We said "Rosalba! You know that you can be baptized by immersion too!" And her face just lit up!
There is this Italian card game called Briscola...and it is THE Italian old man game. They are professional. And I take a little bit of pride in saying that this week I beat an old Italian (the mafia member) at Briscola. Mission Accomplished.
We had 3 meal appointments this week!! And Sorella Cluff only fell asleep in one of them! too much food + chatty Italians + new greenie (after 3 hours of church) = nap time!
We were teaching one of our new golden investigators the plan of Salvation and she said "this all seems familiar! Like I have already heard this before. It makes sense!" :)
There were so many people that showed up to English Course that we had to have 3 seperate classes!
We ate gelato 3 times this week and I also found a place that does REAL GRANITA! Mi manca Sicilia <3
Italian sky <3
So ya. This week has been really nice! I love love love beeing a missionary. It is pretty much living the high life! You don't have to worry about school and work. In fact we have these magic cards that refill themselves and every month we magicly get £200. We get a whole 3 hours to study the scriptures and other awesome spiritual stuff. We get to go out and see all of these miracles everyday! I got really lucky and get to eat some really good food here in Italy. But the best part of it all is that after almost 18 months I can say with all my heart...
Jesus Christ lives. And this is HIS church restored on the earth.
Sure my body is falling apart. And sometimes I fall asleep along with my greenie at meal appointments. My heart breaks every time someone denies our teachings. And maybe I say this too much....but I miss my family! I've forgotten how to use technology. And...today on the bus I was standing next to the ticket machine and this teenage boy came to stamp his ticket and I got really uncomfortable because he got just a little too close.
(Luckily I only have to miss Taylor Swifts singles and I get to hear her whole new album right when I get home.)
So secondo me (according to me) VALE LA PENA. IT'S WORTH IT! And I wouldn't trade a minute of this time for anything else.
Just a reminder....EVERYONE WATCH GENERAL CONFERENCE THIS WEEKEND! Remember that one guy Noah...he was a propet and when he had general conference, I'm sure those people who didn't make it because they had "other things" to do....ya I bet they were real sad after the water started pouring.
Living day prophets rock.
LOVE YOU!!
