Man it sounds like things are hoppin back at home! Football, missionaries, weddings! In my mind I guess I just picture everything the same! haha
This week! Oh where to start!
Monday! Giuseppe is progressing so well since we first met him 2 weeks ago. On Monday we had a lesson with him and invited him to be baptised! Then later in the week we gave him a baptismal date of December 21st! He didn't say yes and he didn't say no, but he came to church on Sunday and he is done with 1 Nephi! He is awesome!
Tuesday: We had our lovely Thanksgiving feast. Man you already heard about it?! Yes. Let me tell the story from the beginning. So Monday night we decided that we should probably buy a turkey. haha So we went to our friend, the meat man, who owns a shop that we pass everyday on the way to church. He gave us a really good deal, considering it was so last minute! Two big chunks of turkey meat, one for £6 and one for £8! He even cleaned it for us and de-boned everything. So we came by the next morning to pick it up....and uhhh....we misunderstood.... £6 per KILO and £8 PER KILO. ugh. Stupid Language barrier. So we all payed £10 and even though our pockets took a tole, it was worth it because we had tons of English Course students come and they were able to meet members! And the members are finally starting to realize that we are cool missionaries and that we do work! haha I was talking with some members afterwards and they just went off about how they love this set of missionaries so much and that we are so united and doing such good work! It made us feel good, because we thought they all hated us haha.
{Editor's note: This is the story as told by Anziano Steurer (the office couple missionaries):
"The Sisters in Palermo decided to order a turkey and prepare a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for their English class students. They had understood from the butcher, who was overly excited to help them, that the cost would be $11.50 for the turkey and he would be happy to remove the feathers and debone it. When they picked it up, the price quoted turned out to be the per pound price and the labor to clean it was extra. They ended up paying $115 for a not so fat turkey and called me in shock wondering if the church would reimburse them! ("No, we don't reimburse for food unless it's for a mission conference".) I suggested dividing the cost among the twelve Sisters and Elders in Palermo to ease the pain. Not ten minutes later, I received call from missionaries in another city who thought they had ordered two small turkeys and forgot that a kilo and a pound. Instead of two eight pound turkeys they ended up with two seventeen pounders that cost a total of $124."I didn't tell her where I heard about their little turkey fiasco. :) My kids know I'm a sleuth and find out things they never think I will find out. ha ha}
Wednesday: was interesting. We started off the morning by organizing and planning English Course for the transfer and to celebrate that we got it all done, we went to the grocery store to buy hygiene products....and chocolate! I saw some chocolate cherries and I thought of home and how this time of year we eat so many of them, so we bought them! We unwrapped them and took a bite and....ewwww. not very good. In fact they burned my mouth! So we got home and were telling the other sisters to never buy those chocolates because they are so gross and Sorella Bradford (who has lived in Europe for most of her life) gets this look on her face and proceeds to tell us that they fill those chocolates with alcohol! ....... :O .......So I may have broke the word of wisdom....on accident!
That afternoon I started feeling kinda sick so I took a nap and woke up and just wasn't feeling good. And it just got worse from there. I have been sick all week! Sicker than a dog (I really don't know what that phrase means...but I think it applies here?) And I have been stuck inside sleeping all week. I can't remember ever having a cold this bad! But I am so grateful that you sent me with Dayquil/Nyquil before I left.
Thursday: Slept all morning. And afternoon. And then before English course we did a lesson with two studentesse from corso....Josi and Rosa Anna. And we did a soft baptismal invite! They still don't understand why their baptism in the catholic church isn't valid, but we are workin' on it. They also said we needed to have patience because they will "come to church in their own time, when they feel ready". Again...working on it.
Then we did English course!
Afterwards we went to the Alder's house to celebrate Thanksgiving for real and we had apple cider and mashed potatoes and ice cream! Yummm! Best Thanksgiving ever! haha but really, it was pretty fun :)
Friday: I somehow made it through planning and then slept the rest of the day. Then we got transfer blessings from the Anziani. They were really great and I am excited to see how this transfer goes! It again talked about how much my family loves and supports me and that you are all praying for my success :) So thank you! I appreciate all of your prayers, I can feel the blessings.
Saturday: I decided I needed to feel productive so we actually left the house! But the glory was short lived and I had to return home haha. But in the evening we went with the Anziani to an appointment at....a MAFIA house! Yes folks you heard me right. One of our investigators is mafia! We have taught her a few times, and even though she has a really nice house....really nice....I never really thought she was mafia until the Anziani (who are teaching her son) told us that she told them about how her husband "took care" of people when they didn't pay their rent. :O Anyways....she loves us and loves having us over! It was raining really hard that night and I guess I was wearing a dress too thin for her, so she gave me one of her skirts.

On our way back on the bus I talked to this really nice lady from the Philippines. Her name is Joy and she speaks English and is interested in the gospel! She also lives on the same street as the church (perfect). And when I was talking to her my umbrella accidentally opened. It was kinda awkward.
Sunday:
Church was great! Giuseppe came. Then we went to Monreale for pranzo with a family in the ward. The Boscia family. They have an AMAZING view from their house! So beautiful. I was sneezing and coughing the whole way through, but dinner was yummy, as usual!

Then on the way back I accidentally invited a group of Gypsies to come to our church. My whole district was mad at me afterwards....but I didn't know they were gypsies!! Oh well.
And we came home to our front door decorated like a Christmas present! From the Alders.
Today I still feel sick and I think I am starting to experience the flu side of a cold. Hopefully I can get back to work this week and start feeling better!
This week I have been really bad with my personal studies! I have been sleeping through them because I have been sick. haha but today I was studying in D&C 88:
4 This Comforter is the promise which I give unto you of eternal life, even the glory of the celestial kingdom;
5 Which glory is that of the church of the Firstborn, even of God, the holiest of all, through Jesus Christ his Son—
6 He that ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth;
7 Which truth shineth. This is the light of Christ. As also he is in the sun, and the light of the sun, and the power thereof by which it was made.
Jesus Christ not only is the highest that you can get, but also through the Atonement he went as low as one can go. He has a broad spectrum, a greater view. And it gives me comfort to know that the Atonement isn't just for those who are high and it's not just for those who are low. The Atonement is for everyone! Even for those of us who are just in the middle. He understands. Every bit of it. And because he understands he can be our light to bring us higher. And this light of Christ shines brighter than anything! If we keep our eyes steady on the light of Christ, the light of truth, we can be guided through anything and into his loving arms.
I love you guys!! I hope you have great weeks and I can't wait to talk to you guys in a few! I love you bunches!
