I will let you know which day works best for us next week. We have tons of appointments with members, so I will see when works best! I have only gotten Granny's package, but Aunt Amber's might be at the mission office and I will be getting all of my packages before Christmas! Colten looks so big! Oh my goodness! And Trayser sent me a picture of him on a DATE! ugh. he is getting so cute. I hate it! All the girls are going to snatch him up! This morning I was laying in my bed listening to Taylor Swift Christmas and it was just so twangy and countryish and it just made me a little tiny bit home sick! Not bad. But I miss you guys, especially during this time :) About a coat. I am fine, it really isn't that cold! The one I have works perfectly, but if it gets colder I will buy another one! For my birthday, just something from home :) You know the things that I like! :)
I know... my half way mark is the middle of next transfer. ugh. don't remind me. It actually really freaks me out. I have been having scary thoughts about having to go home and date....to get married. what?! :o
This week I have been feeling better, but unfortunately I spread my sickness to Sorella Nef, so we have kinda had the same week.
So I told you how Giuseppe came to church. He said he liked it a lot, but then he stopped answering our phone calls and he didn't come to English Course. So we don't really know what happened, but I hope that the spirit will help him feel like this is the right thing.
Josi became golden this week! She came to our lesson and we talked about the authority of the priesthood and it made sense to her. She still said that she couldn't come to church....but....she surprised us and came for gospel priciples and sacrament meeting!!! She said she has been reading the Book of Mormon too. Sacrament meeting was the primary program and we sat in the front row and she just loved it! Other than that, work is kinda slow. We haven't had much time to do finding lately and we are kinda lacking in investigators because of it. But this week everyone is feeling better so we are going to hit the streets! We had a sister from Siracusa come to Palermo this week to do an exchange. It was fun to have a new face around for a few days.
English Course is growing and we are doing two sets of classes. Monday and Wednesday and Tuesday and Thursday. It takes up a lot of time, but every single one of our districts investigators is from English Course, so it is worth it!
On Saturday we did a ward activity and we all went to an old folks home and sang Christmas carols. They were all so cute! I have gained this love for the elderly here on my mission. They are just so funny and nice and have so much love to give. While we were there there was a Catholic priest giving the old people the mass and he was kinda upset that we were there to sing christmas carols. One of the members of the bishopric got in a little argument with him, which was kinda funny. But they made up in the end. :)
There was a dead person there that had died the night before.
Ah I am so sorry that this email is so boring! There really wasn't much that happened this week!
There was one thing though, that was just precious. On Tuesday before English Course I was playing the piano in the chapel and one of our little students, Monti, walked in and was watching me play. He is 10. I took out the children's song book and started playing the songs for him and the other missionaries were singing. We sang Armies of Helaman and told him the story behind it. Then we sang a Child's prayer, and he love it so much! But his favorite was I am a Child of God. I explained to him the Holy Ghost and what it feels like to know that you are a child of god! I asked him why it was his favorite song and he said "Because every child in the world needs to know this". I wrote down the words on a little piece of paper and told him to read them every night before he goes to bed and then say a prayer to his Heavenly Father. When his mom came to pick him up after English Course he was so excited to tell her all about it! And tell her how I invited him to come to primary and sing with all the kids.
It was such a touching experience. I understand why children are so precious in the eyes of our Savior. They are so innocent and pure and so open to feeling the whispers of the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 18 says:
3 Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Well that's all for this week. I love you so much! Cant wait to hear your voices!
Love Sorella Wiltbank
