Ciao tutti!
Lets see! Where to start with this week??
Monday for Pday we....went to the beach :) And just laid out in the sun....(tried) to write letters. But probably did more napping than writing. Afterward we did a FHE with some less actives and some investigators and it went really well!
On Tuesday we went to Reggio Calabria (always an adventure with the ferry ride).
And on Tuesday night we had triple the amount of English course students show up!!!! We have been doing a lot of publicity and it finally paid off!
Wednesday we had 3 bidone's (uhhhhh when people don't show up to appointments? what is it called?) But....a miracle happened! We were on the tram and there was this girl staring really hard at our name tags. So I started talking to her...and it turns out that her mom is a less active from Brazil who hasn't come to church in 18 years because she didn't know where it was!! They live about an hour and a half from Messina. But this girl said her mom talks about the church all the time. And while we were talking the mom called and the daughter told her what happened and the mom asked to talk to us. The first thing she said "Oh Sorelle! I already love you so so so much! It was destiny that you met my daughter!" So we are going to go and find them this week!
Oh! We also got lost! haha we were on our way to see P___, and to get to her house you have to take a bus that goes along the beach...it's about an hour ride. And then you have to ask the bus driver to drop you off before the stop. Well...I asked the bus driver to drop us off....but when we got off, I didn't recognize where we were. So we thought we got off too early. So we just decided to walk the rest of the way. And then we kept walking. And kept walking. "oh it's just around this corner, it's got to be!" Finally...about 45 minutes of walking, we call P___. We tell her we are standing next to a sign that says....something (can't remember). You are WHERE?! You are wayyy to far away......and it doesn't help that it was officially the start of summer. It was blazing hot! No water. Oh man. So we missed our appointment. But luckily caught the next bus home. And we also got a really good tan :)
Thursday we went and helped a less active download Family Search. Man I am so excited to do family history!! Forget about Facebook...Family Search is the new social media!
We also found two new people..wooo!
Friday we did planning!
We also have this new convert that we haven't been able to see for weeks! And we finally were able to see her. Turns out she has been in the hospital. Poor girl! But we found her and she came to church on Sunday and just cried the whole time! Then she got a priesthood blessing and it was just so beautiful seeing her feel the Love that God has for her. I love being a missionary!
Saturday we had a great lesson with our little G___. She is 18. Loves Korea. And is bullied at school and so she has no friends...except the missionaries. But she is reading the BoM everyday!
Then that evening we went to Reggio Calabria to do a mostra (uhhhhh like a display) We just got a big black sheet and drew a cool design about the restoration. Last week we did it on Geneology and it worked really well....But now that it is really hot...people were at the beach.....20 feet away! Instead of the sidewalk. We didn't have a ton of success. But it was okay!
Sunday...was an eventful Sunday. We taught the relief society lesson. It was Sorella Arnold's first RS lesson in Italian and she rocked it! And thenn....after gospel principles, my hater (the one from last week) pulled me aside and asked to talk to me. (uhhh ohhh) We got it all sorted out. Just misunderstanding (like always). But now it is all fine. She even told the anziani that we are amiche! Woooo!
Today we are going to find some sandals for my little English girl. (She is miserable. She has never seen heat like this before. and the mosquitoes are eating her alive)
But overall. This week has been better. I am excited to see what happens as the time keeps going. I hope I can stay here until the end. Messina is so great!! There is so much culture. And so many amazing people. When we did planning we counted 21 people on our potential list! Just from the last few weeks. 21 PEOPLE!!! And a good chunk of them were people that the Lord just placed in our laps. Isn't he just so great?!
Also HAPPY FATHERS DAY! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dad!! Not wanting to brag or anything, but I have the best dad ever! And all of the Italians love it when I say my dad is a real cowboy! They are all jealous!
I am running out of time and don't have much time for a long spiritual thought. But here is a scripture for the week
James 1:22-25
"But be ye , doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is likeunto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."
Vi Voglio TANTISSIMO bene!
Sorella Wiltbank
