Hi guys!!!
IT DIDN'T COME! AGH! (Trayser's mission call.) I have been waiting for it all week! I guess I will just have to have more patience! I loved looking at those photos from graduation. Everyone looks so old! (except you mom). But how did Colten grow up so much!! And dad is getting lots of grey hairs. Man I am going to come home and not recognize anyone.
Speaking of....I can't believe it already came.....I remember the first 6 months went by SO SLOW. The second 6 months went by so FAST and these last 6 months. I just want them to slow down and never end. This whole week I have been having weird dreams. Like....I had a dream that I was home and I decided that I wanted to go on another mission. But like in 6 months. Take some time to rest, ya know. Then dad came up to me really excited and told me that Salt Lake called and said that I could report that Sunday! But I was just a little sad because I couldn''t see Trayser open up his mission call. And thennnn another weird dream! (It is funny that you sent that picture of the Burks) because I had a dream that I came home and you had arranged a marriage between me and Nathan Burk. And I told you guys no...that he wasn't my type. And you guys got SO mad at me.....anyway....
I am so excited to hear all about Trek. I am jealous of those missionaries who get to go! And then go to girls camp! And then go branding! Man....I am jealous. (Well I guess I don't have much room to complain. We do some pretty cool things here in Italy).
Oh...and no..I didn't get the packages. But next week is zone conference, so I will probably get them then.
So as far as this week had gone...it has been great!
Last pday we went to this BEAUTIFUL! Island. It is called Isolabella (google it) We just kinda wandered around and admired the beauty of Italy. But it was a little rainy...so that is why I look terrible in all of the photos (and maybe because I am lazy these day...and tired...and fat...dang Italian food). But it was really fun!
I am starting to get a feel for the city and the people here. I just love it. It seriously is so amazing! I have just really been trying to give it my all. Serve with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. And it is so fulfilling. I seriously love being a missionary. I love the spirit that I feel everyday. I feel like Heavenly Father has given me new eyes. I just see so much beauty all around me, and I am just constantly amazed at the love that the Lord has for us.
Tuesday we went to Reggio Calabria for DDM. It was such an adventure! We left the house at 8:00 and didn't get home until 3:00...so long! First we had to walk to the Ferry (which was soooo cool! I could see jelly fish from the window. And it has created in me this desire to get into boating after the mission. Lyman Lake here I come!) Then we had to walk for an hour! Ugh. And then we did the meeting....and then the whole journey back. Then we got home and ate real quick and then went out for a lesson and then english course. Longest day of my life.
Wednesday we had some awesome spirit power house lessons! oh ya! We also ate granita (A famous sicilian treat. Pretty much just a fancy Icee...but I think I am going to really appreciate granita during the summer)
Thursday we did some good english course finding. The english course here is TINY. Like 6 people. We will have none of that. And so we did lots of publicity this week. We also found this golden contact. She is 17 and she had a mom J Dub and a dad Evangelical. And she is confused about which church to join (We have a great message for her...we know a young boy that had the same problem!) But she wouldn't give us her phone number....dang it.
Friday we did planning and then went and visited an amazing new convert. She also offered us tea and when we told her it was against the word of wisdom she said " no it's not! The other missionaries drink it...." But it was clearly tea....so I took it with me and gave it away to someone on the street. haha
Saturday was awesome! We went and found this lady who has been taking the lessons forever, but never got baptised. And the missionaries haven't seen her in a long time because she moved far away. But we went and saw her and just straight up asked why she was never baptised. And then asked her if she will be baptised now. And she said YES! and that is how it's done! Some people need 10 weeks....some people need 10 years!
Sunday....oh sunday. It was great because we showed up to church and the bishop decided he was going to give a "training" that lasted for both relief society and sunday school. He pretty much just broke everyone's boxes about how there isn't any unity in the ward and that the Lord isn't going to bless them if they aren't being obedient. It was pretty awesome. I was impressed.
And here we are on Monday! Today we are going to go bowling. Oh ya!
This week in my personal studies I have been reading Jesus the Christ and going along with it in the New Testament. Man....can I just say that Jesus Christ is so awesome. I have learned so much from this study this week that I wish I could share all of it with you guys. But I think I will stick to the topic of Miracles.
I noticed how the majority of the New Testament, is Christ performing miracles. And I was wondering why. And in the bible dictionary we read:
"Many miracles were also symbolic, teaching such divine truths as the result of
sin and the cure of sin;
the value of faith;
the curse of impurity;
and the law of love.
The miracles of healing also show how the law of love is to deal with the actual facts of life. Miracles were and are a response to faith and its best encouragement. They were never wrought without prayer, felt need, and faith".
Miracles were a way of teaching. Through miracles, Christ taught some of the most important lessons.
1. That sin is bad. That sin is cause and effect. We do something again the commandments, there is a consequence that comes....but
2. Through Jesus Christ we can all be cleansed from sin.
3. Faith. We HAVE to have trust in God. We have to believe that only through Jesus Christ is the impossible made possible.
4. That God loves us.
And there are so many miracles that we see everyday. So many. We just need to open our eyes to see them.
I love you guys!! Have an amazing week! Don't injure yourselves on the Trek. Dad...have fun at home all alone. And remember...that I love each and every one of you! SO SO SO much!
