A Little of This, A Little of That

Ciaoooooooo!!!

I love you guys! The time is just flying and I can't believe it's already transfer calls again! This Saturday! We will see what happens, but I am assuming I will probably stay another in Palermo with Sorella Nef! But who knows.

I'm so glad you finally got that package! Man I can't believe it exploded. I didn't even think of that. haha. But its good to know that it takes about 3 months for packages to get home! (She sent her dad a small package with two single serve gelatos that are like Gogurts where they are melted and all you have to do is stick them in the freezer overnight.  And wah lah! gelato!  But the seals on the containers popped open in transit and all we got was one big soggy mess!)

It sounds like things at home are crazy! I am so glad that Trayser is going so far with his FFA things. He is so awesome! Why didn't Colten go? BTW Colten is so funny. I loved that story! haha

So this week was crazy!
Monday we did a P-day with the Anziani. It was super chill. We made a bunch of food and then went to the church and watched 17 miracles. It has been really rainy outside so that sounded like the best option. And it was really nice to be able to have a relaxed Pday. Like I've said...its a curse and a blessing to live in such a historic part of the world. There is so much to see and so little time to see it! So our Pdays are go go go, they are the busiest days of the week. But we have finally seen all the big things of Palermo, so today we are also going to stay inside, its looking a little rainy, and we are going to play Uno! Yaa! Oh and last week I was able to write some letters so they should be coming!

Tuesday we had district meeting all morning. And Sorella Nef and I had to do the training, we talked about companionship unity and then to finish it off, the district leader, Anziano Di Caro, had an evil game planned. He had 9 liters of cold water, each liter represented a part of our work (Members, investigators, less actives, etc.) And he poured every bottle of water into a big pan. He pulls out these HUGE straws and then tells us that as a district we can "drink all the water". So we proceeded to drink 9 liters of freezing cold water to promote district unity. And we paid for it in the hours proceeding. Haha. I love this district!

Wednesday we did Scambio! I was with Sorella Robinson. It was fun to do some finding with her. It was a really rainy day and there was nobody on the street so we decided to do some house (last option!) It was pretty fun! Wednesday we helped the Anziani move into a new apartment! We made them homemade soup and they just thought we were angels. It's fun being a sister missionary and being able to do sweet sister missionary things! haha

Thursday we had a member appointment in the afternoon and then we did a lesson with two of our English Course Students before class started. Josie and Rosa Anna. They are so cute! Middle aged. And we hope that it will go well with them.

Friday was zone conference! And we hosted it here in Palermo, which is always fun! We happen to be the only sisters in our zone so of course we got roped into doing the musical number, we sang Anima Mia (Be Still my Soul). And unfortunately the assistants didn't have room to bring packages down :( But I will definently get my Christmas package and the one from Granny before Christmas, so don't worry! And on that subject, I haven't gotten the Ensign yet :( but I hope it shows up this week! Did you send it to my apartment or to the office?

The Steurers came down for conference and it was so fun to see my little mission mom, Sorella Steurer. We were best friends when I was in Rome, we were always able to talk about Eagar Arizona and she totally understood. But I have missed her and it was so fun to see her again! We had fun chatting and I have discovered that we are practically the same person, it's kinda weird. haha But we made plans that when I get home, she will come visit her daughter and we will meet and go to a temple session together! Ya!

Kaeli & Sorella Steurer

Lots of funny things happened at zone conference. So President Waddoups is great! He has really started to open up and he's pretty funny.

After zone conference Anziano Di Caro and Hurlburt invited us to do a lesson with them and their investigator Veronica. And President Waddoups also wanted to tag along. Talk about intimidating! Man! But it turned out fine. We invited her to be baptised again and to pray extra hard so that her mom will let her get baptised before she turns 18. Later that night we all went out to get gelato and it was a lot of fun!

Saturday was the first session of Stake Conference. It was in Enna, on the other side of the island, so we took a bus with all the members and missionaries and it was so much fun! I was able to see the lovely Sorelle of Messina, my Bfffs in the mission, Sorella Stephens and Mathews! So cute! We chatted about how, no I did not recieve the "package", but it was still fun to laugh about it.

There was also this cute old guy that asked to sit next to me. We were in the front row and he was so excited to get close. He sang the hymns with all his heart and he was so proud to be sitting next to a missionary. At the end of the closing hymn he looks at me and says "Is it now time for the good work of Jesus?" What?! Then the people behind us start to tap him on the shoulder "It's time for the prayer - go!" He jumps up walks up to the microphone...ohhh! He is saying the prayer! haha Afterward he comes up and starts asking me about myself and I tell him where I am from... he says "someday I am going to visit America! I have family in New York! And I want to visit so bad! When I do I will come see you in Arizona! Will you remember me?" He then wrote down his name for me on a pass along card so that I would never forget him. Haha he was so cute! I love old Italian men!

Sunday we were back in Palermo, we watched the broadcast version of stake conference. We talked about missionary work too! We have just been put in the spotlight lately! It is a good time to be serving a mission :)

It was a busy week, but a good week!

This week I have been thinking about what it means to truly be happy. What it feels like to be truly happy. And I have felt it a lot in my life. Mostly here on my mission. And then there are times when I don't feel happy. And in those times of discouragement it's like my body craves happiness, I will do anything to be happy. And there are a lot of things that bring on discouragement and sadness. It can be bad choices you've made, it can be the influence of bad choices of another, or it can just be a trial that Heavenly Father has sent your way. But most of the time, it is hard to change the situations. Others have their agency, which can effect you, but you were also blessed with the gift of agency. And in those times of sadness the only thing that you can sometimes do is change your attitude. To have an attitude of gratitude. But I have found that the secret to happiness is to lose yourself. Think not about what you don't have, but about what you do have. To turn outward and serve when the natural instict is to turn inward and be selfish. The key to happiness is to work for the happiness of others. In short, be SELFLESS.

Love you guys! Buon Settimana!
Sorella Bank
